Cultivated by the Maqsood family in the historical town of Pampore in the Pulwama district of Jammu & Kashmir, India at an elevation of 1600 MASL.
These saffron threads are of the highest grade known as Mongra, consisting of the long, deep red stigmas of the Crocus sativus flower.
Kashmiri saffron is considered to be one of the finest in the world and has been given the Geographical Indication or GI tag by the Indian government given the unique climate of Kashmir which results in high Crocin & Safranal content.
This lot has been harvested in late 2021 and further processed by the local men and women in Pampore, a town where 20,000 families are involved in saffron cultivation and trade.
