Bright yellow in colour, often referred to by its trade term – Madras turmeric, this variety has a subtle, earthy taste.
This freshly-harvested single origin Salem turmeric has been cultivated using organic practices (not certified) in Karuppur, Salem, Tamil Nadu, India by our farmer partner, Mr. Jaganathan who has been farming on his ancestral land for the past 6 decades.
The Salem variety has a curcumin content of 3% on average.
An award-winning farmer, Mr. Jaganathan has been instrumental in bringing about many changes within his farming community including the introduction of turmeric cultivation as well as encouraging and educating other farmers to adopt organic ways of farming.
This lot has been harvested in 2022, sun-dried, and then ground into a fine powder at a local milling facility in Karuppur town in Salem.
The product has been imported and packed in Australia by The Sabor Co. Refer to the product packaging for farm-level traceability, storage instructions, expiry dates, and allergen advice.
