This green cardamom is one of the best grades of cardamom that you can treat your palate with.
Harvested in early 2022, the pods have been carefully grown and further processed by the Pious family, who are third-generation spice farmers.
The pods are green to pale green in colour and are mostly 8 mm in thickness. Each pod has close to 18 seeds which are black in colour, indicating that the pods have recently been harvested.
This is the Njallani varietal of green cardamom which was developed by a local marginal farmer, Sebastian Joseph in the South of India using cross-pollination techniques. This variety is now dominating the plantations in Idukki because of its yield and the quality of produced fruits.

Got introduced to this brand by a friend. I ordered some cardamom and cloves to give it a try.
I was super impressed with the aromas and the appearance of these pods. Never knew cardamom came in different sizes and had such a strong eucalyptus-like flavour.
