Developed by the Indian Institute of Spices Research (IISR) the Pratibha variety is characterised by a rich brown colour – Intensely earthy, mildly bitter, and musky notes.
This single origin Pratibha turmeric has been cultivated in Alleppey, Kerala, India while practicing organic principles (not certified) of farming by a female farmer, Mrs. Rajini Jaydev.
A high-yielding variety of turmeric, the Pratibha variety is extensively grown in the southern parts of India, and also has a high curcumin level of approximately 5.5 percent.
Grown on a 5-acre farm amongst coconut trees, ginger, vegetables, flowers, herbs, and tubers, the farm also has a vermicompost unit, a hydroponics unit, and a rain shelter for the animals that include ducks, chickens, and cows.
This lot has been harvested in early 2022, sun-dried, and then ground into a fine powder at a local milling facility in Kattanam, Alleppey.
